With over 7.58 billion active smartphones around the globe, the rise in online fraud and security risks has increased tenfold in the past few years. While brands ensure consistent software upgrades to keep your smartphone safe, responsibility falls on the user to ensure their phone is running on the latest software version. That is why Apple is urging users running on older iOS versions to immediately update to newer iOS versions.
Apple Pushes iOS 13 and 14 Users to Upgrade to iOS 15
In an official Apple support document, Apple has advised all iPhone users currently on iOS 13 and iOS 14 to immediately update to iOS 15 and above. This has been issued given the recent reports of increased iOS exploits in the past few months.

The report states that older versions of iOS are extremely vulnerable to exploits like "Coruna" and "DarkSword," which can take advantage of outdated security protocols to gain access to iPhones. These exploits are rampant for iPhones running iOS 13 through iOS 17.2.1.
Now, while Apple has patched these vulnerabilities with newer iOS updates like iOS 26. However, users who are still on older iOS versions are ripe for hackers to exploit and gain access to their iPhones. Moreover, Apple also seeded iOS 16.7.15 and iOS 15.8.7 updates for older iPhones, which also introduced several security fixes.
Hence, it is important for iOS 13 and iOS 14 users to update to iOS 15 and above. Apple has also stated that if for any reason users are unable to hop onto the newest software version, they can consider enabling Lockdown Mode to protect against malicious web content and other threats.
