Foldables in 2026 are heading into a new phase and it's all about the new wide form factor, which could become the next big thing. With the Huawei Pura X Max launched in China as the world's first wide fold, all eyes are now on Samsung and Apple as they appear to be next in line. However, it looks like Xiaomi is also in the race as hints of a Xiaomi-branded wide foldable has now surfaced online.

If true, this will mean that Xiaomi is also developing its own passport-like folding phone just like the Apple iPhone Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Although the prospect is exciting, the Weibo post is at the moment vague, as the new leaked HyperOS redesign can also hint at a future Xiaomi-branded tablet like the Xiaomi Pad 8.
However, it is further substantiated by leaker Smart Pikachu who confirmed that the Xiaomi wide fold is indeed in the works. The tipster also hinted that the phone will use self-developed AI interactions along with a useful sidebar implementation.

This report falls in line with a recent leak that claimed that the Xiaomi Mix Flip 6 was cancelled to help the brand focus on its book-style foldable lineup. While at that moment it seemed like a Galaxy Z Fold 7 competitor, the current leak tells a different story.
While both tipsters have not shared any other detail regarding the same, based on early rumours it could be called the Xiaomi 17 Fold or the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The phone leaked earlier with the 2608BPX34C model number and Q18 internal designation with the "lhasa" codename.
It is expected to be powered by the XRING O1 chipset successor, the XRING O3 processor. This could make it the first folding phone to ship with Xiaomi's in-house silicon and could rival the likes of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and the Dimensity 9500 processor in terms of performance.
That said, since neither the XRING O3 chipset is official and there is no word on Xiaomi's next foldable, it is best to take these details with a pinch of salt. With rumours pointing to a July 2026 launch window, we can expect Xiaomi to reveal official details in the coming weeks. So, stay tuned.
