Summary

  • Android 17 stable will officially launch in June or July 2026, releasing first on Pixel and then on Samsung devices.
  • All recent flagship phones from OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, iQOO, Nothing, Motorola, Realme, Xiaomi and Poco will be eligible for the next update.
  • Android 17 could start rolling out to other devices sometime around Q3 or Q4 2026.

Android 17 is the next big update headed to your smartphones, and, as in every year, it has people asking the same old question: "Will my phone get Android 17?" To answer that, we have prepared a list of Android 17-eligible devices across major brands, including Pixel, Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Nothing, Motorola, and others. So, check out this guide to learn if you have an Android 17-supported device.

Which Phones Are Eligible for Android 17?

Most smartphones launched in 2023 or later are eligible to enjoy Android 17. This includes almost all Pixel phones starting from Pixel 6, which will be the first to receive the update. Samsung phones are next to receive Android 17, and the company has already started beta testing One UI 9 globally.

Popular Chinese brands like OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, iQOO and Xiaomi are not too far off. Most of their flagship phones launched since 2023 are scheduled to receive the next big update. Some of them have even started beta testing Android 17 on their current flagship devices.

Google Pixel Android 17 Eligible Devices

Let's take it from the top and talk about Pixel phones. These are the first ones to receive the latest Android updates, and Android 17 won't be any different. The good news here is that all Android 16-supported devices are also confirmed to receive the Android 17 update. Here's the complete list of all Android 17 eligible Pixel phones:

Samsung Android 17 Eligible Devices

Samsung will launch One UI 9 based on Android 17 alongside the launch of Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. The company is already testing One UI 9 Beta for the Galaxy S26 series and has expanded it to older devices as well. Samsung has yet to publish an official list of One UI 9-eligible devices, but based on past trends, we expect these phones to get the next update:

What's New in Android 17?

Android 17 won't bring a major design change like Android 16's Material 3 expressive overhaul. Instead, it will bring mostly under-the-hood refinements along with quality-of-life features like the new floating multitasking bubbles, native app lock support, Screen Reactions and Gemini Intelligence. Here's a closer look at some of the key Android 17 features

  • Multitasking Bubbles: The new multitasking bubbles feature in Android 17 will allow users to open any app in floating window mode on top of other apps on the phone. On larger screens and foldables, a dedicated bubble bar in the taskbar keeps all active bubbles organised.
  • Native App Lock: While Google already released Private Space in Android 15, the update will now introduce native app lock support. This will allow users to lock access to certain apps behind a password or biometrics.
  • Desktop Mode: Android 17 is also set to bring upon the official release of a proper desktop mode on Android devices, just like Samsung's DeX. It will let users experience a desktop-style interface with a proper taskbar, multiple windows, pinning/unpinning tasks, window snapping and more.
  • Screen Reactions: The Screen Reactions feature was announced at Android Show I/O Edition 2026, which will let users overlay their reactions on top of any content on the screen of their phones without any third-party apps or green screens.
  • New Screen Recording Menu: Android 17 will also revamp the screen recording menu, turning it into a small pill that is easier to access. It will also feature an annotation tool to make it easier to guide others or highlight something with a captured screen.
  • Gemini Intelligence: Android 17 will also introduce Gemini Intelligence on Android devices, which will allow for deeper Gemini integration inside apps, giving users the ability to process text, images and transcriptions with accuracy and get more done with Gemini.

That is all we have on Android 17 eligible devices. A long list of phones are scheduled to receive the next major update, and hopefully your device made it to the list. In case you don't see your phone up there, don't worry, as brands could add more devices to the roster last minute, and we will update the list accordingly to reflect the latest details.
